The backing is a heavy, flexible textile of type X. The abrasive grain is ordinary aluminium oxide (electro-corundum) in a continuous coating, and the binder is synthetic resin. The belts are used for sanding wood, cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, plastic, paints and varnishes.
