The Makita DC10WD is a charger for Li-ion batteries in the CXT system at 10.8–12V Max. It charges the full range from 1.5 Ah to 5.0 Ah, so one charger covers every CXT battery in the toolbox.
With a rated output of 33 W, the DC10WD charges a 1.5 Ah battery in 50 minutes and a 5.0 Ah battery in 160 minutes. The charger measures 100 x 150 x 68 mm and weighs 0.35 kg, so it takes little space in the service van or on the workbench.
The mains lead is 2.0 m, giving reach from the wall socket to a shelf or bench without an extension cable.
When does the Makita DC10WD make the most sense?
As an extra charger or a replacement for a lost or broken one, and for anyone charging batteries overnight or between working days. The DC10WD is compact and light enough to leave in the vehicle, so there is always a charger where the tools are used. Anyone needing short charging times during the working day tends to pair it with several batteries.
Applications for the CXT charger
The charger is used with Makita 12V Max CXT batteries for drivers, drill drivers, impact drivers, multi-tools, work lights and other tools in the range. It suits the home, the service vehicle and the workplace as a second charging station.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can the Makita DC10WD charge Makita 18V LXT batteries?
No. The DC10WD is for CXT batteries at 10.8–12V Max only. Makita 18V LXT batteries use a different rail and voltage and need an LXT charger. The charger also does not take the older 10.8V insert-style batteries. Check that the battery is marked CXT or 12V Max.
How long does a battery take to charge in the Makita DC10WD?
That depends on capacity: 50 minutes for 1.5 Ah, 70 minutes for 2.0 Ah, 130 minutes for 4.0 Ah and 160 minutes for 5.0 Ah. With two batteries in rotation, swapping at lunch or during longer breaks is usually enough when using the smaller batteries.
What separates the Makita DC10WD from the DC10SB fast charger?
Charging speed. The DC10WD charges a 1.5 Ah battery in 50 minutes, while the DC10SB fast charger handles the same battery in about 22 minutes. In return the DC10WD is compact at 0.35 kg and 33 W, and suits use as a spare charger, overnight charging and anyone with several batteries to rotate. For intensive work with few batteries, a fast charger means less waiting.
