Key Facts — Brosmet GRO-4 Rebar Bender

  • Brand: Brosmet
  • Model: GRO-4
  • Type: Manual bender for stirrups and reinforcing bar
  • Ribbed bar: up to Ø 14 mm
  • Plain bar: up to Ø 16 mm
  • Groove depth: 25 mm, several bars at once
  • Made in: Poland

The Brosmet GRO-4 is a rebar bender for shaping stirrups and reinforcing bar directly on site. It takes ribbed bar up to Ø 14 mm and plain bar up to Ø 16 mm, and with length and angle stops every stirrup in a run comes out identical without re-measuring.

The bending core runs on a bearing, keeping the arm light and smooth even on heavier sizes and extending the tool's service life. The grooved core and bending roller are made from hardened steel, and the bending edge is rounded so the bar is not damaged. The bending arm is made from Ø 33.7 mm tube.

The groove is 25 mm deep, so several bars can be bent at once. A supplied reducing insert narrows the groove to 8 mm for lighter sizes, and a bar support keeps the bar in the bending plane for better accuracy and repeatability. The whole tool is powder-coated and made in Poland.

Why steel fixers choose a stirrup bender with length stops

Because stirrups need to match. A stirrup a few millimetres out gives the wrong concrete cover or will not fit the formwork, and with hundreds of stirrups per pour, measuring by hand is slow and unreliable. The GRO-4 has adjustable length stops that can hold two different dimensions very close together, so even odd sizes such as 16x18 or 18x20 cm can be bent. The angle stop gives the same bend every time, and all stops adjust with a single key.

How the rebar bender is used

Basic bending takes place in the groove for plain and ribbed bar up to Ø 12 mm. For heavier bar, additional bending over the roller handles plain bar up to Ø 16 mm and ribbed bar up to Ø 14 mm. Set the length and angle stops after the first stirrup, then bend the rest of the run without measuring again. The bender dismantles completely, making it easy to clean rust and dust from the bars out of it — and a damaged part can be replaced on its own rather than the whole tool.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can the Brosmet GRO-4 rebar bender bend Ø 16 mm ribbed bar?

No. The limit for ribbed bar is Ø 14 mm, using additional bending over the roller. Ø 16 mm applies to plain bar only. In the groove, both types bend up to Ø 12 mm. Ribbed bar needs more force than plain bar of the same size because of the ribs, and exceeding the limit puts unnecessary strain on the core and bearing.

How are stirrup dimensions set on the Brosmet GRO-4?

With the adjustable length stops and the angle stop, all set with the same key. The length stops can hold two different dimensions very close together, so even odd stirrups such as 16x18 or 18x20 cm can be bent. Bend a test stirrup, check the dimensions and then bend the rest of the run without re-measuring.

What separates the Brosmet GRO-4 from a basic rebar bender without a bearing?

The bearing and the stops. A basic bender without a bearing takes more effort and wears faster at the core, whereas the GRO-4 has a bearing-mounted hardened steel core for light, smooth action. Length and angle stops make stirrups identical, and because the tool dismantles completely, individual parts can be replaced instead of the whole bender.
