Structural timber screw with washer head and TX drive for timber constructions
This structural timber screw is a strong and versatile wood screw with a large washer head, designed for fixing brackets, post bases, beams and other timber joints where high clamping force and a low installation height are required. The large head provides a generous bearing surface, making it an excellent alternative to traditional coach screws in structural applications.
The screw is made from carbon steel, yellow zinc plated and wax coated for faster installation and reduced friction. The cutting tip and serrated zone significantly reduce driving resistance, allowing the screw to be used in solid timber, glulam and wood-based panels such as OSB, plywood and particleboard – both indoors and outdoors.
Features and benefits
- Washer head (large head) provides high clamping force and secure fixing of brackets and structural elements
- TX drive ensures stable torque transfer without bit slippage
- Cutting serrations, drilling zone and cutting edges reduce driving resistance by up to 20%
- Double thread in the tip area provides faster bite and easier starting in timber
- C4-classified yellow zinc coating for long-term corrosion protection outdoors
- Wax coating reduces torque and extends runtime for cordless tools
- CE and ETA-18/0817 approved screw for load-bearing timber structures
- High mechanical performance values suitable for structural timber design
- Developed for professional users, but also suitable for demanding DIY projects
New improved tip – faster bite and lower resistance
The improved cutting tip is engineered to deliver even better performance during installation. Its optimised geometry reduces both starting resistance and friction throughout driving, making the work faster, easier and more energy efficient – especially with cordless tools.
- Faster starting – the screw bites immediately, even when it is difficult to apply pressure
- Up to 20% lower resistance during the full driving cycle
- Up to 40% shorter installation time in tests compared to the previous tip design
- Longer runtime for cordless tools thanks to reduced load
- Cutting serrations break the wood fibres and reduce friction
- Allows longer screw lengths to be driven even with smaller tools

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Is pre-drilling required? No, not in most wood types thanks to the cutting tip and serrated zone.
- Are these screws suitable for outdoor use? Yes, the C4 corrosion class and yellow zinc coating make them suitable for outdoor environments and harsher climates, while also working perfectly indoors.
- Can they replace coach screws? Yes, with lower installation height, faster installation and a cleaner look.
- Which materials are suitable? Solid timber, glulam and wood-based panels such as OSB, plywood and particleboard.
