- Type: Wall-mounted axial fan for air supply
- Maximum airflow: 6,500 m³/h
- Maximum pressure: 140 Pa
- Power consumption: 420 W
- Protection rating: IP54
The Harmann WAX 500/N pushes 6,500 m³/h of clean air into the building, making it a supply fan rather than an extract fan. The N in the designation refers to the air direction: air moves into the room, marked by an arrow on the unit. The extract version is the WAX 500/W and is otherwise identical in data.
Fan diameter is 500 mm and the motor draws 420 W from a standard single-phase 230 V supply, with a maximum pressure of 140 Pa. Motor and impeller sit in a compact flat assembly with external rotor, so the motor body takes up minimal depth in the opening. The impeller blades are black-painted steel, dynamically balanced to class G4 per DIN ISO 1940.
The body is a square profiled sheet steel mounting plate with a powder-coated protective grille, the whole unit finished in black. Enclosure rating is IP54 and insulation class F (155). The motor carries integrated thermal protection that cuts the supply at 150–160°C and resets once the temperature falls to 90–120°C. A terminal box is fitted, and speed can be regulated by voltage control across 140–230 V. A gravity shutter is available as an option and is not included.
What sets the Harmann WAX 500/N supply air fan apart?
It is built to bring air in, not take it out. In buildings where extraction is already installed, the resulting negative pressure pulls unfiltered air in through doors and gaps. A supply fan at 6,500 m³/h balances that condition and controls where the fresh air enters. The flat motor-impeller design also lets the unit sit in a wall opening without projecting into the room, and voltage control brings the same fan down to the flow the space actually needs.
How the fan is used in industry, storage and food production
The fan is mounted in a wall opening and feeds clean, dust-free air into the building. Typical installations are production halls where extract fans need compensating supply air, warehouses requiring air change without open doors, workshops, and agricultural and food industry premises. At 6,500 m³/h it covers a space of roughly 1,300 m³ at five air changes per hour.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Where must the Harmann WAX 500/N supply air fan not be installed?
The fan is intended for clean, dust-free air with no chemically aggressive, corrosive or explosive gases, which rules out spray booths, chemical stores and dusty process environments. Mounting is from the inside only, from the room side of the wall — it cannot be fitted externally. Maximum operating temperature is 60°C, dropping to 40°C when speed is regulated by voltage controller. The IP54 rating covers dust and splashes but not jet washing.
Is a gravity shutter included with the Harmann WAX 500/N?
No, the shutter is an option and is ordered separately. Without it the opening stands clear when the fan is off, which in winter means heat loss and backdraught through the 500 mm aperture. In heated buildings with seasonal operation, a shutter should be budgeted into the installation from the outset. A terminal box, by contrast, is fitted to the fan on delivery.
What separates the Harmann WAX 500/N from the WAX 500/W extract model?
Air direction. The N model is a supply fan blowing into the building, while the W model extracts from it; the direction is marked by an arrow on the unit. Technical data are identical between the two: 6,500 m³/h, 140 Pa, 420 W, 1,320 rpm, 69 dB(A) at three metres and 16.5 kg. Choose N where the space needs fresh air brought in and W where air is to be removed.
